Does $2,000 Make Sense?
Wouldn’t making an extra $2,000 profit per acre on your butternut crop this year make sense?
Hollar Seeds hired a neutral, professional variety tester to compare the yield of Waltham squash to hybrid Victory. The test was done in upstate New York, summer of 2011. The results have just been tabulated and Hollar’s Victory yielded an extra 163 bushels, or 6,520 pounds more per acre. At $13.50 a bushel, that is over $2,000 more income per acre!
The difference in cost of a hybrid seed over standard varieties is about $75, now that makes sense.
